12:00 Doncaster – Anemoi 1/1 – 2pt win – Whittingtons four year old won on hurdles debut 28 days in quite taking fashion. He beat Pym by 2 lengths, a horse that was built up to go well this season. The front two were well clear of the rest of the field and this runner does look classy. Could be a nice hurdler for the season.
1:00 Newcastle – Beakstown 6/4 – 1pt win – Beakstown won a point to point in a nice way and was purchased and sent out in to a Bumper for the Skeltons. He was 2nd in that, But to be fair he hadn’t been in Dan Skeltons hands for long. He won takingly two weeks ago having no run for just under a year. He’ll be even better for that run and Dan Skelton said it’s his best hope for Saturday’s racing, that highlighted by the stables top jockey booked. Goes close with a clear round and could be one to watch out for this season.
1:35 Newcastle – Polydora 4/1 – 1pt win – A pretty open looking race this one, but Tom Lacey’s mount would have a good chance of showing that ability of his last run at Aintree. That was his chase debut and he’ll be better off for it. The winner of that race boosted the form by winning again since. Connections are quite keen on him, and this inform trainer may have another nice one here.
3:00 Newbury – Elegant Escape 11/2 – 1pt win – The Ladbrokes Trophy Chase looks a very tight affair, but Elegant Escape is liked by his trainer and Tizzard even compared him to Native River. He beat Thomas Patrick last time and this will be harder under a penalty but he looks progressive and can go well here.
6:45 Wolves – False ID 3/1 – 1pt win – This looks an absolutely terrible race and that’s putting it nicely. There are many in here without wins or without even ‘nice runs’. This Gelding won just 3 days ago, and is turned out quickly under a 6lb penalty. Even under a penalty he still looks well handicapped on old form. This C&D winner wouldn’t have to run to his full ability to land this shoddy race.
